Brevard County, Florida jet manufacturer, Embraer, just announced a major deal with private aviation company, NetJets, that is expected to bring both jobs and money to Brevard County. With a worldwide fleet of 700 aircraft operating in over 170 countries, NetJets has hired Embraer to build 125 executive jets; starting with an initial order of 50 jets, followed by the possibility of 75 more in the future, with each plane costing around $9 million.
The assembly of the 125 airplanes will occur at Embraer’s Melbourne facility, located at Melbourne International Airport, which currently employs 230 highly-skilled workers. This new deal is expected to bring nearly $1 billion and about 200 more engineering jobs, bringing the total workforce at Embraer’s Melbourne facility to over 400 employees.
Again, great news for Brevard County and our economy! Embraer’s new deal with NetJets and the anticipation of 200 new jobs is wonderful news for the Space Coast!
